The After School Club
The After School Clubs are run for the benfit of children with a disability.
The Clubs are run by a team of Crossroads Care staff and volunteers and offer a range of suitable activities including a craft table, ball games, Lego and soft clay. We also arrange outings for the children to local venues such as Sea World and ten-pin bowling.
Our Clubs aim to help and encourage the children to interact socially and to make friends, something they do not always have the opportunity to do at school. Parents just have to drop their children off at the club - transport, manned by two carer support workers, is arranged to take the children home.
We know it can be difficult for parents to give quality time to the brothers and sisters of children with a disability. The After School Club gives parents a much valued opportunity to dedicate time exclusively to their other children when they come home from school.
Where and when
After School Clubs for younger children (age 5-11) and older children (age 12-19) in the Basildon area meet at the Castledon School, Wickford on alternate Tuesdays. At present, we regret we do not have funds to operate similar clubs in the Brentwood area.
